Primary School Gathering
After 87892638297 years, I finally had a gathering with my mini group of primary 6 classmates. We wanted to have our dinner at a what-many-ppl-claims-nice-food Japanese buffet restaurant Kushin Bo at Suntec City, Sky Garden. But we figured that it is a little costly (it's a ^%$^ $40+++/pax), so we decided to change it to Coffee Club. MUAHAHA. MUDPIES!!!

wokay i feel like a mudpie monster now. I WANT MUDPIES!

The guys were late, so the girls had a treat of the mudpies! shiok~

I'm a white dog, my name is Bobby.

Then we went bowling. I rank 2nd ok. But my score wasnt even over 100 lah. I got spares ok. LOL.

It is amazing how we could still get together although many of us lost contact of each other. Imagine the days when we did not even have any mobile phones or email addresses. All we could communicate was in school, over the house phone, or by snail mail. Despite the years of separation (alamak machiam Family Law divorce separation), we still have so many to talk and joke about. We were all excited and happy to see each other. Some changed, some didnt. Somebody got supermodel bod sial~ heh

wokay some of you might not have seen how short and plump i was. heh

Joan and I visited Eunice the day after she gave birth. Her baby felt like tofu, so soft and fragile. HAH. and i kept playing with his hair, damn nice to touch.

EUNICE HO hohohoho

Dear readers,

My dear friend, Eunice, has just given birth to a baby boy. I will be visiting her tomorrow since I paid $49 for 1.5 days of my freedom to the doctor.

She endured an estimated 11 hours of pain and finally gave birth. She says it is very painful. X/ Hearing from her, I was reminded that I will be going through similar situations like hers and many other mothers in the world. It is a painful yet wonderful process that only the women can experience. I think it is something which you cannot describe upon seeing your baby that you have protected in your womb over a period of 9-10 months safe on Earth and your responsibility of protecting it never ends.

Now I am scared. Eunice, you are so bravecourageousadmirablestrongnoble. I am proud of you! :D

Best Regards,
Shiying

i miss school, for now...

School has started for TP, and I'm still stuck with my internship at Chinatown, where there are a lotta cheap and good food, and pubs and bars downstairs, clubs just behind the building, Clarke Quay just a bridge away, Brewerkz just that bridge-away distance and that stupid Winsor got a treat from his boss at there AGAIN, and the Central is just 5-10 minute walk away. Not to mention People's Park and Chinatown point is not that far away, and Subordinate Court and Family Court is also just across the street. Plus lunching so alone.. emooo

I must try all the delicacies there!! ARGHHHHHHH.

i want! i want! I WANT!!
ok im starting to throw some tantrums here because i'm still stuck with my internship when school has already started. :(

I miss school. But looking at my 4-day-9am timetable and the "ever-entertaining" facilitators it somehow makes me don't feel like returning to school too. grrrrrr.

ok nvm, i shall countdown to my payday:

8 days to $$$$$.

Our LO Ms Lim's treat to the Rendezvous Restaurant at the Rendezvous Hotel.. wooot!
My Soursop drink that I ordered.. there the one with a lotta ice shavings one!! heh
Tadah~ Ice Kachang with blueberry toppings!

Powderful. Ms Lim you're the best! and thx for the treat.. hehe :D

the ah lian posting.

I discover new things each day I go to work.

So today I just happened to turn behind and saw this A4 sized paper that says, "Stephen Covey’s 7 Habits Of Highly Effective Ah Bengs".

Steven Covey is an Ang Moh, like Shep lidat, but only that one is the heaven and the latter is the floor. Covey is the author of a famous book, "The 7 Habits of Highly Effective People" (Highly Effective meaning Successful). As the name, "Ah bengs", in the first title mentioned suggests, these habits are simply adaptations of some Hokkien phrases.

Let's see the 7 habits:

Habit No 1:
Be Pro-Active
Kin ka kin chiew (fast leg fast hand)

Habit No 2:
Begin with the End In Mind
Ooh tao ooh buay (have head, have tail)

Habit No 3:
First Things First
Chik hung chik hung lai – Ban bai lai (one thing at a time, slow and steady);
or Cho tao seng (do first)

Habit No 4:
Think Win-Win
Long chong ai yarh (want to win in everything)

Habit No 5:
Seek to Understand Rather Than to Be Understood
Cho lang ai eh beng pek (you must be understanding)

Habit No 6:
Synergise
Tai kay ai hup chop (all must co-operate)

Habit No 7:
Sharpen the Saw
Toh bua lai lai (make the knife sharp)

Isn't it more than true? HAHA.
So let us just continue using our Hokkien Language even though it sounds chor lor and whenever you first learn it, it will always be the vulgarities, but the phraseologies are what make successful people.

Of course, we should not neglect our other language - English. Why don't we just learn them together?

So let us look at the different types of Singlish:
Basilect ("Singlish")
"Dis guy Singrish si beh
powderful wan. Hoh seh liao lah! Damn steady wan la!"

Mesolect
"Dis guy Singlish
damn powerful one leh."

Acrolect ("Standard")
"This person's Singlish
is very good."
adapted from wikipedia

Let's look at some examples:

1. Hor

(/hɔ̃ˇ/), from Hokkien and Cantonese, also spelled horh, is used to ask for the listener's attention and consent/support/agreement:

  • This shopping centre very nice horh. — This shopping centre is very nice isn't it?

2. Siah

/sjɑ̀/, also spelled sia, is used to express envy and for emphasis. The term "siah" is derived from Hokkien which consists of two words 'si' (literrally die) and 'ah' (a form of exclamation).

  • He very solid siah. — He's damn capable.
  • Wahlau, heng siah. — Goodness me (=Wahlau)! That was a close shave (=heng)!
Alright I shan't go on, otherwise I tell you hor it'll be endless one lei..

See here for more.

"Cho lang ai eh beng pek", Wa ai kih koon liao.. good nite.

ranting post.

Please bear with me for a moment, I need some ranting moments.

How many times have you heard me say the word, "Fuck!"? I would say, only once in a blue moon, only when the moon turns full within the same calendar month, which occurs some 32 months every time.

Being a Taurean, I have been patient and tolerant to many things. That is why you do not see me losing my temper easily, going around exploding and complaining to people. But have I been too patient and tolerant that I have become a pushover? I thought it was fine initially. As time passes by, the actions have become very obvious, yet I still tolerated it, I thought it will soon be over once you are done with what you are supposed to do. But HELL, NO! The actions continued, and I said,"Fuck!" in my mind.

Could it be any more obvious that you have not been doing what you are supposed to do and should stop what you are not supposed to? Fuck.

It has been some time, and finally the people are seeing it. But you continued. Fuck. Your nonchalance have brought me misery, but let me learn more things and made the people opened their eyes to see. I am glad. But still, Fuck.

I am not covering you, can't you see? You are simply dumbstupidbrainlessdimdoltishcrassdodo (all words have the same meaning). What I have done is simply collecting all your shit, aka kio sai. Please wake or Fuck off.

I may look nice on the outside, but on the inside you never know what I think. Fuck.

Please note that the word "Fuck!" does not appear as a thought in my mind anymore, it has become a whisper now and then. It might just turn into a scream one day.

Fuck, Fuck you, Fuck off.
---

Ok, let me put the word "Fuck" away for now. Rantings' over. YAY!

Met with for a group sharing session about our SIP (Student Internship Programme) with my Liaison Officer (LO), Ms Lim. It was very nice of her, she treated us to the Rendezvous Restaurant and the Rendezvous Hotel (btw it's rän'dā-vōō', -də-). It is just coincidental that both are named "Rendezvous". The restaurant was at Raffles City, then it moved to the hotel, and it just coincidentally happened to be the same name. Anyway, the restaurant serves authentic Indonesian Nasi Padang. Being one who does not consume any spicy food or seafood, it was a little hard to find food for me to eat. But I somehow found things to eat because they ordered a long table-full of dishes. I tell you really table-full until no place for anything else but food. I will upload the pictures after I get them from Kartika :D

I ordered Soursop drink and I tell you it is really damn refreshing. The soursop is very fresh and there is even ice shavings on top, machiam Ice Kachang lidat. Even Shu Cian, who claims that she does not really take soursop, ordered the drink as a dessert after I forced her to taste one soursop fruit. and Wan could not resist the temptation and tried it too. HAHAHAHAHA!!

It was an eating and sharing session, so of course we shared our SIP activities with everyone. I would say that it was a very relaxing session unlike some other students who has other LOs. I do not want to mention any names here, but yea lousy LOs exist. heh

We had a near 3-hour sharing session, of which around 1 hour was taken up by Sabrinna, then Ms Lim drove some of us to Bedok and Simei. She stays in one of the condominiums in Simei. It is so near TP lah!

It's late, gotta sleep. Need to swim after work tomorrow, I want some fresh air and get some relaxation, heh.

ciao.

To my dear cousin, See Yin

HAPPY 23RD BIRTHDAY!!!
Thanks for the meal at Sakae Sushi XD

and she got the Oscar Award, haha:
Yeah, I did it.
the usual crazy us did this:

and I bought this:
1/350th scale of the Cutty Sark, gold plated.

It is one of the most famous of the old clipper ships. Built during the 19th century and is one of the fastest sailing vessels used for transporting goods. The Cutty Sark is the SOLE survivor of these great ships and is now a museum in London... Cos of their fast sailing speed, the owners would charge a premium price for delivering their cargo of tea, wool and gold in the shortest possible time. weeeeeeee~

Now watch me piece them together. :)
